An excellent machineThis machine worked wonders. Only when starting to prepare the ground to lay a new lawn did I discover that some areas of the ground underneath was largely heavily made up of flint stones, some quite sizeable. Despite 'jumping' a bit the blades worked wonders churning out rocks with no detriment to the machine at all. It made what would otherwise have been a nightmare a straightforward job. Very happy.

GreatWhat can I say. This works amazingly. For a small machine it is a beast, very powerful. Be prepared when you first use it, it is a little beast and just wants to pull away.

What a beast! This machine is a beast! Initially you would think that it looks like a toy but once tried it… wow! So powerful and sturdy! Fantastic value for the money. Just an advice: make sure that the soil it’s fully dry for the best possible result.

A true labour saving device. This has proven to be an excellent buy. It really made turning over the soil a breeze, and taken hours out of what would have been a long job.
Top things to do - use a fork to 'crack open' the soil - this lets the thing dig in a lot more efficiently.
Work pulling the thing backwards - then you aren't compacting down the soil you've just turned over, but more importantly, the machine is 'digging in' and not rising over where you are working.
Be aware where the cable is - if there was one big improvement this product could do with, it's cable colour - orange or red would be much better than the black it does come with. But saying that, cable length is excellent as well.
If the thing is really 'skipping up' then you're on big roots or big bricks... but it is very good at going through small roots, and will spit out half bricks easily - it's more powerful than it looks.
Unless you're doing a big plot you may feel you've spent too much, as this will reduce the time on an average garden to a matter of minutes of work. I used it to turn over a space about 5 car spaces in size, and then a couple of days later to dig in five 100l bags of compost - the latter job took no more than 5 minutes, and I spent more time setting up and clearing away than I did on the job. But it is fun, and very effective.Posted on

Replaced a "hard to start" two cycle mini tillerUsed in a small raised bed vegetable garden. (large rear tined tiller too destructive) Got tired of spending hours trying to start two cycle mini tiller to do 30 minutes of work. Hesitant about switching to electric because of power and durability.
Researched electric options and this unit stood out mostly because of customer ratings. Was on sale for just over $100. Decided to try it.What a pleasant surprise!! Worked even better then two cycle ever did in tilling. Pull trigger and go. A real work horse. Did all I asked it to, did not bog at all or overheat, and the finished product was perfect.Posted on

Great power in a little packageAll in all, I got it because it was cheap, but was amazed at the power it has and a generously long electric cord. It cuts through the dirt, cuts roots (small) and kicks up rocks the size of eggs. Now the fact that it is light is a little bit of a disadvantage, because it wants to climb up and out of the trench you are cutting. I fixed that with a 25 pound bag of lead shot roped to the front housing at the handle attachment. That gives enough weight to keep the front tines focused downward and lets it cut deeper more easily, without your constantly pulling it back and redirecting. You can get a cloth grocery bag and fill it with rocks/sand/dirt and it will assist the same way with downward force. If you do have roots, make sure you have a pair of garden nippers to cut them out of the times, so you get back to business sooner. All tillers will wrap roots around, but either way, you need to cut them out quickly so you don't waste a lot of time.
Great purchase!!! Now I can let my wife do the tilling, because it isn't "too heavy" for her!! LOLOLPosted on
