Great piece of kit;I don't do many Amazon reviews, but this compost spreader/roller has really helped me re-seed our lawn. It's well-designed, sturdy, and does a great job. I used it to put a layer of compost over the newly-seeded lawn, having previously done a messy, uneven job with a rake.

pleasantly suprisedIf you’re reading this then you’re probably the same and didn’t want to spend £££ on a branded version. This is easy to put together, sturdy, the clasps keep the door shut and the holes are big enough to spread the soil. Top dressed my grass with hundreds of kilos of top soil and it is still in one piece

Great compost spreaderI used this to place a thin layer of compost ontop of grass seed in a large area. Was so much easier than spreading by hand.
Easy to empty a 60L compost bag directly into the spreader. The clasps work well to keep the lid closed.
A 500m2 area by hand took 20x60L bags of compost and all day to spread. Another 500m2 area using this spreader took only 10 bags and around an hour.

A worthwhile lawn investmentEveryone likes plush grass. Annual ceremonies of raking thatch, moss, aeration all come to a head with this spreader. Walk the seed and compost into your lawns in straight lines with less time snd potential damage to remaining grass. Worth the investment for year in year out use for compost, grass seed, weed and feed. Whatever needs an even spread.

It does the jobI was skeptical at how good it would be but the spreader works well. It was easy to assemble (only 5 bolts) and fits together well, the side latches are strong and clasp well and the hole sizes in the mesh which is what I was worried might be too small on the images are fine. I used compost/ soil from a raised bed that I was removing to spread on the lawn and the mesh caught any stones and roots and laid down the soil evenly.
I put in a 50ltr trug full in each time (it can hold more) and it took two passes to fill over the grass seed evenly. It’s easy to push and the handle is rigid. And overall it’s light weight to carry. I’m happy to recommend it.Posted on

It's very goodI'm really trying to get my lawn in shape and wanted to do a full lawn renovation, which involves putting a thin layer of compost over the grass seed, I've saw lots of YouTube videos of people using a compost spreader as it makes easy work of the job, at 50 pounds the costway spreader is at the lower end cost wise, I just couldn't afford to spend 180 pounds on the landzie compost spreader, and to be honest I'm glad I didn't spend that because the costway spreader did a fantastic job, setting it up is very easy and only took 15 mins, the trick to using these type of spreaders is make sure you compost or top soil is bone dry, if its damp or wet it will clog, but this is the same for all these type of spreaders, it spread a lovely light coating of compost over my grass seed and all the debris from the compost was left in the spreader, it would normally take 5 bags of compost by hand to do my lawn and the spreader did it in 2 bags and a fraction of the time, if you like to look after you lawn then this tool is a great addition,5 stars

Works GreatIt is relatively inexpensive and has worked well so far. My neighbor also borrowed it and used it and he also said it works very well. The instructions could have been better, but it was very easy to put together.

Needed Minor Repair Before UseAnother review warned that the latches might not line up properly. This was exactly the case. I solved the problem quite quickly by repositioning just one of them. This required drilling one hole. For all that, it is still very good value and will probably outlive me. It works very well.

I was worriedI was worried that this might not be the best purchase I have made, but I couldn’t be so wrong. I am really impressed with the spreader. After putting it together (about 10 mins) I was over the moon how this has made my life so much easier. I usually need 14 x 25L bags of top soil to reseed my lawn and about 2 hrs work. This time I only used 5 x 25L bags and it took about 30 mins to do the same lawn. It won’t take long to pay for its self at this rate - well chuffed. Quality is good too!

Decent value although not that robustThe price was lower than most.
Ive now used it and its ok....the soil sand mix i used is quite fine so it flows out a bit quick. Ive countered this by mixing in a bit of compost. The spread is good but a full roller took me just 15 metres so its still hard graft.
If you fill it three-quarters full the weight is bit much for the handles in terms of manoeuvring. Not sure of how much use it can stand but for the occasional use its ok.Posted on
