Easy to assembleThere are no instructions but it was easy to put together. The bolts, nuts, washers and springs are all clearly located. They give you some spare parts, a hex key and a couple of wrenches. The nails were pretty loose when they arrived so they definitely need tightening. Looks well made and is easy to clean and maintain. The packaging isn't very thick but there is a foam pad that the nails are recessed into so that nothing gets damaged.

A great tool for lawn care - simple, effective, and long lasting! This lawn tool exceeded my expectations! I wasn't sure how well it would work to level out uneven lawns and improve soil aeration, but it ended up transforming my yard. It's solidly constructed with strong metal spikes and a powerful spring that applies plenty of pressure to the ground. It's very easy to use—just press down and lift—and is perfect for small to medium-sized lawns, especially for those who want better-grown, flatter ground. I've already noticed that it absorbs water better and the grass is growing more evenly. Plus, it's more affordable and better for the environment than renting heavy machinery.

Good enough in the right conditions, but...These aeration sandals are simple in design, but perform very well. This product is best suited for people with smaller yards, or people who, like me, are reluctant to buy or rent an aerator. I was a little disappointed that the product did not come with washers to secure the nails, but luckily I had some lock washers of the right size, which made the sandals much easier to put on; therefore I deducted one star. Buyers should not have to buy or add extra parts to a product in order to function properly, especially something as simple as a lock washer. That being said, people who purchase this product will definitely want something like a lock washer to help secure the nails, otherwise the nuts that secure the nails will definitely come loose when walking around the yard. In the end, this product performed as expected and was adequate for my intended use, but it really should have come with enough parts to function properly.

This works!I've bought other manual core aerators in the past and they were annoying to use because they tended to clog. This one didn't, and I can get through my yard without having to stop to unclog the pipes. The unique design makes the core aerator pop up great, and it's definitely worth the extra money.

Gets the job done even in clayThe lawn aerator is great and works great for the clay soil in my backyard. It takes a bit of manual labor but the tool makes aerating easy. I recommend it.

This method can be used for small areas.Works as advertised. However, I have a lot of areas where I need this tool and the workload is large. The product is great, no issues, and the price is right. Speed is not a strength of this product if you have a lot of areas to work on.

vanpein aerators are sturdy in construction and provide smooth extractionHere in Texas, it was a perfect time to buy this tool for the spring lawn mowing season. It was easy to assemble and all the parts and tools were provided. I was concerned about its sturdiness and strength since it is made of three pieces screwed together. I was wrong. My old punch would clog after a few pokes in the ground and this tool solves that problem very well. The "weeding" tool they provide can be used to clear clogs (which I didn't need to do) or to clean up before putting the punch away. My wife is 140 pounds and 5'8" tall and she found the height of the handle comfortable. I took one star off because I felt it took more push force to get it into the ground than my old tool. While the tray does a good job of holding the hollowed out part, I felt it got in the way a bit (or maybe I was just too used to using my old punch). It was definitely easier to push in after a rain, but obviously not when it was too wet.

A great tool for loosening garden soilI've been using this manual lawn aerator for aeration, mainly for my garden beds, and it's perfect for what I need - turning and loosening the soil, rather than deep aerating. The spring-loaded handle makes it easy to apply pressure and bounce through compacted topsoil. It's especially useful for raised beds or areas covered with mulch, where the deeper tines might not work. It's solidly built, and the spring-loaded base gives a slight bounce with each press. It might not be as suitable for clayier or compacted lawns, but if you want to freshen up your garden soil or prepare it for planting, this aerator is a good choice.

great tool for spring lawn care!I recently tried out the lawn aerator with a spring-loaded dust head and overall the results were good. This aerator does a good job of making holes in the soil, helping air, water, and nutrients reach the roots. The unique thing about this aerator is that it comes with a spring-loaded dust head, which automatically clears soil blockages without the need to stop the machine frequently for cleaning. It is made of solid metal and feels sturdy when used. It is easy to use even when the soil is slightly damp, such as after watering or rain. However, it is more tiring to use on dry or very hard soil. All in all, it is a good choice for those who want to improve the quality of their lawn but don't want to spend too much on power tools.

Heavy duty and self-cleaningThis is a reliable lawn aeration tool. The thick steel frame feels very durable, and the pre-installed spikes mean you can get to work right away. The self-cleaning design automatically shakes off dirt and leaves, so you don’t have to stop to clean the tines. I also like the adjustable handle, which helps reduce the strain on my back during long hours of use.

Easy to set up and comfortable to useThis lawn aerator exceeded my expectations! It's surprisingly easy to push thanks to the spring-assisted design. Another great feature is the adjustable handle height, which helps prevent back pain. Whether you're dealing with thick thatch or fallen leaves, this tool will automatically clear the debris.

Saves time and energy - perfect! The bottom spikes of this lawn aerator come pre-installed, and installing the handle takes less than a minute. The thick and sturdy construction ensures durability even in tough soils. What I like most about it is that it takes very little effort to use - the spring mechanism does most of the work.

The first aeration was very hardFirst, I'm disappointed that it was $30 cheaper just a few weeks after I bought it here. Second, the first time I used it on about 1200 square feet, it was a bit brutal, but effective. If the soil is particularly compacted, I recommend renting a machine to do the first or second aeration. The first time I tackled it a day or two after it rained, it was difficult, but doable. The next day when I tried to continue, I couldn't penetrate the ground at all, so I had to water and wait another day to finish. After two days, I was exhausted because it was hard work. It was hard to push the tines, and they were often clogged. Most of my soil was dirt dug from a new house. I might as well buy some spikes until the soil is not so compacted.

Smart Gardening/Lawn Edition for Problem AreasNice paint, easy assembly, well made, feels solid, not flimsy, comes with extra levers. The handle height/length is a little shorter than I would like, but that's not a problem for me since I can adjust it myself. The street price is great too. No manual, but do you really need one? If you buy this, you should know a thing or two about gardening. I highly recommend it to create a perfect garden in those nasty, dry, green-free areas.

Ease of useThey are very easy to use once you get the nails in. If the ground is wet you will have to chip away the accumulated dirt from time to time but it is much easier than any other hole punch I have used. I feel they work very well.

High-quality goodsThis spring my grass wasn't growing as well as I'd hoped so I had an expert come in and check it out. He tested the soil and said it had enough nutrients. However, he said my soil was compacted and recommended aeration. So I bought this unit and did it myself. It's pretty sturdy. I don't think it will break down due to poor quality. It's pretty heavy once you load it with rocks and sand. It really works. It's a little tricky to operate but it does get deep into the soil. I would recommend it and buy it again if I need it.

Excellent tool!Great aerator. Takes a bit of work. Use a ruler or long string to follow the aerator to avoid missing it. Don't do regular lower body training at the gym. Don't use your favorite hose as a ruler guide, or be careful. My hose has some holes in it now. If I make one myself, it should be the same as this one, very good. I rarely write reviews. Great tool. Be careful, it can easily puncture and ruin your Saturday.

Assembly is easy and takes less than 10 minutes!Great aerator! Worked exactly how I needed it to. I filled it with small rocks to add weight so the spikes would press into the soil better. I used this aerator to aerate 7500 square feet and it took about half an hour. It was as easy as pushing a lawn mower.

Ease of useVery easy to use. I used it one-handed most of the time and then switched between my left and right hands. It took me 90 minutes to get through a 1200 square foot yard. Ideally, the surface width would be 6-8 inches.

Must have moist soilMake sure the soil and turf are moist. Add the sand last. Add some water, then some more sand. Add about 25 lbs. in the end. Keep the Styrofoam packaging to protect the tines while storing.

Excellent quality, highly recommendedWorks great! However, it takes exercise! I am in good shape and work out/run regularly, and if I did the whole yard at once, it would be exhausting. However, I only did the various areas that needed to be done, which was about 1,000 square feet. I am 6 feet tall and weigh 225 pounds, and all of the tines performed well. However, the ground must have been recently watered, otherwise it is difficult to work on dry or calcium ground. I am very active, and I found that if I jumped on it with both feet like a pogo stick, it seemed easier than just using one leg after long use. However, for those who are not as agile as me or have poor balance, it is not safe to try this technique I used. One more thing, please do not do this in flip flops like my wife did. That is ridiculous! Wear boots or tennis shoes. Overall, a great product! Highly recommend! Love that you can replace the tines if needed. However, they are sturdy and I think this tool will last a while, if not a lifetime. Also I would like to add that I prefer the three-tine one. I find it easier to get into tight places. It is very convenient to use! So glad I bought this instead of renting a machine.

OperationAs long as you follow the instructions for prepping the area you are drilling, it works as advertised. The self-cleaning feature of the pin is great, but even with the locking nut, the two handle parts loosened up faster than I would have liked. As for how it works, we'll have to wait a few weeks to see.

If you have support...I just wanted to drill holes in a few places. I couldn't rent a larger one and none of them serviced this area this year. I bought a crappy one. I didn't like the way it was put together because the spindle twisted with use. It worked fine though. I drilled all the holes in my yard that needed drilling, but at the expense of a sore back. It takes some time, strength and patience to get the results you want. I'm glad I bought it and it does the job, I'm going to wait and maybe drill holes every other year for now.

Works well, but mine has a small flaw.really like this bubbler. I bought this because my old bubbler would often drop plugs on the floor and I would go back and pick them up later. This bubbler comes with a "catch" tray so that the plugs can be collected as I punch them out. Just have to stop occasionally to empty the tray. Everything was working fine, but then I noticed that one of the prongs was not coming out of the plug. I had this happen to me before with my old bubbler, so I poked it out with a stick. When I poked it, I felt something in the prong. Turns out there was some solder joint in there that was blocking it. It only took two pokes to block it, and the other two prongs would continue to push the plug up. Other than that prong, everything else is working great. I'm really happy that I don't have to squat down and pick up thousands of plugs anymore.

Terrible customer service. No follow upProduct is consistent with the description. Easy to use and assemble. It would be more convenient to water the lawn a little before use. Only complaint - seller. The first one arrived without the nuts and bolts needed for assembly. I emailed the company as per the instructions and they said the problem would be fixed within 24 hours. But the company did not respond. Amazon replaced it for me.

No more sad lawnsIt comes ready to use pretty much instantly, and I estimate it took me only two minutes to attach the handle - with that quick clip, it's super easy. The whole thing feels very solid and not flimsy at all. My lawn was looking a little limp at first, but after just one or two uses, I saw a difference. The spikes seem to work really well and don't tear up the grass too much. Plus, the adjustable handle is a nice touch for my taller self. If you want to take it easy on your lawn, this blue guy is definitely worth it!

Very useful toolThis is a great tool that gets the job done and gives you a good workout. It is better suited for smaller landscapes though. It is time consuming; and be sure to do it after it has rained so the job is much easier. Overall, this is a great tool if you have the time. The pictures show the before and after of aeration.

It gets the job done well. Heavy-duty, quality lawn aeratorwanted to share my thoughts on this heavy-duty lawn aerator, which deserves a five-star review. Overall, it's a good value for the money, and most of the features work well. I believe the longer spikes will go deeper into the ground, and the extra weight also benefits the quality and functionality. This heavier product provides a better grip. Assembly was very simple. During use, I found that I needed to apply some pressure to effectively grip the dirt. I tested it on two surfaces: dirt and grass. On dirt, it performed great. However, a small obstacle on the grass made it harder to create the deep holes I wanted. While it didn't work perfectly, I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a product that might work better, and I didn't want to wear spikes. Good value for the money; don't expect to be wowed; it's good enough. This product is worth the price ($99.99 at the time of writing). I would buy again. When reviewing any product, my first goal is to give potential buyers a comprehensive understanding of the product. I try to provide as much information as possible and provide detailed feedback with pictures (and sometimes videos). My second goal is to help sellers improve their products while highlighting the features of the product. Most reviews are written within a few weeks of receiving the product, and I will revise the review after some time if necessary.

They will do what you want! You need to put the spikes in yourself and it only takes 5 minutes. These spikes work pretty well. I haven't seen if it has helped my lawn yet but that would most likely be my problem. You need to keep your feet straight up or you will get chunks ripped off by the longer spikes. It also comes with shorter spikes which I think would alleviate a lot of the problem. The only major downside is that they will clump up within 5 minutes if the ground is too wet. Also, the strips wrap around to the bottom at little spots on the side so you can't scrape too hard against the buildup or you risk damaging them.

Effective, but takes time and effortIn retrospect, I should have bought an aerator that unplugs. But I figured if that didn't work, I could rent a power unit. But I persevered and finished aerating my front and back yards manually after hand weeding (which was more laborious). My yard is small; if you're thinking of aerating a whole lawn, don't do it, no matter the size. My backyard is about 300 square feet and my front yard is about 1,000 square feet.

Works well, but takes a bit of effortThis thing works fine. I think it's a good middle ground between a manual foot press and a more expensive gas or electric foot press. Even with the extra weight on the wheel, you still need a little strength and muscle to push it to the desired effect.

Soil AeratorExcellent value for the money. Easy assembly, can be done in 15 minutes. Heavy duty steel with black powder coating. No need to use cinder blocks (not included) to ventilate your patio. You'd be surprised how much of a workout it really is when weighted. Great for pulling exercises. Wish the suspension bar was longer. I'm over 6 feet tall.

It worked, but the shaft was bent the first time I used it.Update: The seller sent me a new pump. My rating went from 2 stars to 4 stars. I will update this in the spring when the ground thaws and it can be used. It still works, but the shaft was bent the first time I used it. Hopefully it won't get worse/break with more use. I won't buy it again given the shaft strength design flaw. Will update again in the spring when I get more use.

Works sometimesI is better to use it when the when the lawn soil is wet and after rain. I need to apply pressure on the aerator to see holes on the ground. It is better to have some arrangement to put moderate weights on the lawn aerator. It is sturdy, easy to assemble. It can't be used when the lawn soil is dry.

Bends easilyDoesn't work well on hard or rocky soil. Requires a lot of physical labor and the spikes and attached bars all bent after first use

You need a Metric Set to AssembleTwo thing that disappointed me with this, one was the assembly, the bolts were metric sized, and it took me almost 30 minutes to get it together, but I did. Then the top section of the handle was missing a hole to receive the spring pin in the center section. I had to drill a 1/4” hole to accept the pin. This was not a mistake in the handle, there were no markings on the top section for a hole. As for using it, it appears straight forward, we shall see.

Inferior product for intended useBought this aerator to aerate before applying weed and feed. I ensured the grass was well watered coupled with a few rain showers so the yard wash pretty mushy. The first pass, I quickly realized it wasn't penetrating well without some body weight pressure applied and within the first 2 passes one of the spikes broke off in the yard somewhere. I expected some physical work entailed using one of these but it became a full body workout just keeping pressure on it to penetrate the moist ground. The construction seemed to be weak with the spike quickly breaking off and the aerator needs more weight for ground penetration. Item returned and exploring other options for aerating the yard.

Nearly effortlessI tried 2 prong plug tools and the shoe attached spikes. This is by far the easiest way to aerate. It allows good penetration while soil is moist and one can roll back and forth on any area (helpful if the soil is hard.). Hose off to clean. Save the Styrofoam spike covers for easy storage.
